All right, in all seriousness, this was a pretty funny episode of Sonic Boom today, so don't expect any deep spiritual things in this review.
With that said, here's my review on the new episode of Sonic Boom, which aired on Thursday, July 16th, 2015.
"Two Good To Be True"
Gotta say, love the punny title. Heck of a lot better than my comic issue title...
The episode starts with Eggman launching an attack on the gang with an army of robots and his octopus bot. The octopus bot squirts out ink causing Sonic to slip on it and then... Dave comes in... with his burger launching cannon... and fires it at Eggman's octopus bot?? What the heck?! Then Eggman fires a laser, nearly hitting Amy, but then Knuckles comes in on a hoverboard and rescues her? (Okay, inner SonAmy fan getting close to raging again...) So... for some reason, Eggman's wearing a green version of his outfit, Knuckles proclaims Eggman'll never defeat his team, and Sonic acting... well... goofy... Is Knuckles having one of those delusional fantasies again? So, after Knuckles attacks the robots with his hoverboards, he uses his ground pound shockwave attack, destroying the rest of Eggman's machines. The octopus bot then fires 2 lasers; one red and the other blue. When they crossed paths with one another and became purple, it hit Knuckles causing him to disappear. Sonic tries to save him, but was too late... and ends up catching a falling chili dog instead... So, we soon find out it was a different dimension (You know, the fact that Dave was an actual effective factor in that battle should have tipped me off that it was a different dimension...
), and back in the normal dimension, as everyone was enjoying a barbecue, the other Knuckles appeared, causing Sticks to scream, "Kill It With Fire!"
Sonic, chomping on a chili dog, was impressed with Knuckles' new teleporting trick. Amy thought she sent him to get more buns. The diffent dimensional Knuckles proclaimed, very articulately, that they're will be plenty of time to eat once they've defeated Eggman. The gang, impressed with Knux's new vocabulary and speaking skills, thought he was taking night classes or something. And that's when the real Knuckles came in with the buns and encountered his dimensional duplicate. Later, at Amy's house, the gang tries to figure out how to tell which Knuckles is which. Amy comes up with the idea for the Knuckles they know to wear something to distinguish himself... but they still didn't know which one was the Knuckles they knew... until he soon asked what distinguished meant.
Amy grabbed a blue spikey party hat. While Knux absolutely refused to wear that, the different dimensional Knuckles, clearly infatuated with Amy (or rather, the Amy in his world), puts the hat on. Tails believes that there's a perfectly rational explanation for what was happening... but... he didn't have one at the moment... After the different dimensional Knuckles told Tails not to worry and that the answer shall be revealed in time, he gets an idea to visit someone wise... He visits Dave at Meh Burger... (Again, the whole different dimension thing, I should have seen that coming.) After being stunned at how incompetent this Dave is, Tails finally figures out that this Knuckles is from some sort of mirror dimension, where everyone's more or less the opposite of how they normally act. (Loved how Sticks freaks out thinking she'll encounter another version of herself.
) When they make it back to Tails' workshop, he explains that the two echidnas are polar opposites of one another, where one Knuckles is smart, sophisticated, charming, likable, and a born leader (almost like how the normal non-Boom version of Knuckles is shown) and the other one thinks he was talking about him, as both Knuxs thanked Tails.
As Amy wondered if there was a way to send the smart Knuckles back to his world, Tails asks him how he got here in the first place. After he explains what had happened, Tails makes a plan to try and replicate the beam frequencies, though it would take some time to do so. The different dimensional Knuckles had a better idea, though. If the lasers were created by the Eggman of his world, then the Eggman of this world should have the equipment capable of returning him home. Amy likes the idea and suggests they ask Eggman. Only, the different dimensional Knuckles felt like breaking into Eggman's lair and taking the equipment by force. Sonic explains that they don't go looking fo fights with Eggman for no reason and recommends letting Tails handle this, but the other Knuckles, who was just as stubborn as the normal Knuckles in the non-Boom canon, decides to take charge and leaves, going to invade Eggman's base alone. This leaves the real Knuckles angry and confused (mostly confused) and leaves the other way. Back at Meh Burger, Knuckles was seen sulking as his friends came by to cheer him up, complete with an "Sorry your alternate dimensional self is a jerk" card.
But for some strange reason, Knuckles was unable to lift up the card.., I mean, I know he can be a bit dense, but no way he's that weak... Suddenly, he gets up and immediately falls over. Meanwhile, we see the different dimensional Knuckles trashing Eggman's robots in his base... and he's flickering? Back at Tails workshop, Knuckles, who was now in bed, claims he's just fine... and now, he's flickering, too. After Sticks smacks Knuckles like she's trying to fix a TV, Tails deduces that it's connected with the other Knuckles being in this world which could end up causing a catastrophic anomaly, which may result in having the boundry between the two dimensions eroding until they implode. With that, Sonic, Amy, & Sticks heads to Eggman's base to retrieve the different dimensional Knuckles. Back at Eggman's base, the other Knuckles continues to trash Eggman's robots with his punches until he starts flickering again. This time, he notices what's happening to his body and as he does this, Eggman traps him in an electromagnetic net. By now, Sonic, Amy, & Sticks arrive at the entrance of Eggman's base. As Amy & Sticks have their respective weapons ready, Sonic approaches the front door and... knocks... causing Eggman to say he's busy and to come back tomorrow. With that, the gang goes to Plan B as Sonic spindashes through the front door!
As Eggman was gloating about capturing Knuckles, Sonic, Amy, & Sticks arrive at the scene. As Eggman sics his Motobugs on them, the different dimensional Knuckles comments on how they're pretty much doing the same thing he did. Sonic explains that this is a rescue, the smart Knux comments on how excuses are easily made, yet hard to sell. Eggman, hearing this, was curious to know why Knuckles was talking like a fortune cookie.
Amy tells Eggman that this Knuckles is from an alternate dimension. Eggman understood why he was wearing that hat and tells Amy he's impressed with that idea. He soon realizes the consequences of having two Knuckles' in the same place could result in a catastrophic anomaly. Wanting to prevent that and having a dimensional implosion to happen in his freshly waxed lab floors, he frees the other Knuckles. Sonic explains further on how the alternate dimensional Knuckles arrived here in the first place and asked if they could borrow his lasers so they can send him back to his world. Eggman agreed and says that he'll need them back by Thursday, planning to use them for an attack... er, he meant "a party." (Love how Sticks just made that "keeping my eyes on you" motion at Eggman.
) Back at Tails workshop, Tails made the finishing touches to the lasers and told the two Knuckles that physical contact with each other is required for this to work and to get ready to fist bump when he gives the signal. The different dimensional Knuckles said farewell to his new friends, saying he's learned so much from this wonderful journey. Tails presses the buttons... and nothing happens... Turns out, he forgot to switch the batteries... which led up to a few seconds of awkwardness while Tails got more batteries.
Once Tails gets everything ready for real, the other Knuckles tells Sonic how much more capable he is than the Sonic from his world. As both Knuckles fist bumped and complimented each other, the lasers fired and soon enough, the different dimensional Knuckles disappeared, returning to his own world, leaving that hat behind. Back in the alternate dimension, Knuckles returned and helped Sonic as they attacked an army of Motobugs together...
This episode was so silly and enjoyable. As I mentioned before, it's funny to see how that alternate dimensional Knuckles reminded me a bit of the version of Knuckles before Boom. And every bit with Sticks was hilarious! It's definitely up there as one of my favorite episodes of Boom so far.
Well, just one more new episode to go... Good thing, too... I never realized how tiring it is making these review journals every day... I can only imagine the stress it must take The Sonic Show to make episode commentaries for all of those episodes for the past two weeks... Well, see you then.
