All right, once again, my apologies for the delay. If you guys and gals keep up with my status updates, I'm sure you understand why... In any case, the episode that aired was pretty good, much better than last week's episode. Though, I think it would have made more sense to air this on Halloween, given the episode's theme.

Well, without further ado, here is my review on the latest Sonic Boom episode, which aired on July 15th, 2017.

"The Haunted Lair"

The episode starts out in the forest at night as a crowd lines up for some kind of attraction. As pretty much expected, we see T.W. Barker, and his two bears, in charge of admission as he welcomes the crowd to, what he calls, the haunted forest... for $27.50. As Sonic and the gang were next, Eggman shows up, cutting the line and entering the attraction. Frustrated by this, Sonic and friends follow Eggman and enter the Haunted Forest. As the group walks through, it looks to be designed like a Haunted House attraction. As Sticks commented that this place isn't that scary, some kind of flyer falls at Tails' feet. Tails picks it up to discover that it's a proposal for government mandated health care... and that causes Sticks to run away screaming. :XD: Eggman, on the other hand, found absolutely nothing scary about this place, with its rubber bats, lights made to look like glowing eyes, and its cardboard cutout moon. Suddenly, some blanket ghosts fall from the sky (with clearly seen ropes holding them up), causing Eggman to scream like a girl and run away, believing them to be real ghosts, leaving Sonic, Tails, and Amy laughing! :XD: (Once again, questioning that supposed 300 IQ. :D ) The next day, at the Village Library, Eggman was seen looking up how to exorcise ghosts. Sonic sees this and shows this to Tails and asks if he's interested in messing with him. Tails comments that it would be wrong to prey on Eggman's emotions while he's in this fragile state... until he realized he meant to say "hilarious." :XD: Tails then starts making ghost noises while Sonic dashes over to the other side of the bookshelf and starts pushing several books out. This causes Eggman to shriek in terror and hide under the table. :XD: Tails sees this and says that this is just sad. Sonic, feeling guilty about this, tells Eggman that he was just messing with him and that ghosts aren't real. Seeing that Eggman doesn't believe him, Sonic says for him to come with him so he'll prove it. Later, Sonic and Tails bring Eggman back to the Haunted Forest, as Barker said that he normally saves the daylight tours for preschoolers, but since they insisted, he shows Eggman that it really is just cheap special effects and atmosphere music. Barker then shows Eggman the secret button on the floor that triggered the ghost drop. As he pressed it, the fake ghosts drop down again and Eggman screams again. Barker then takes a pair of scissors and snips the rope holding the ghost up, causing it fall down gently. Eggman then proclaims that he's got nothing to fear... except for a certain numbness in his left arm. (Um... okay...) That night, at Eggman's base, Eggman tries to sleep until he's awoken by ghostly moans. He soon sees a ghost in front of him. Eggman tells himself that ghost aren't real and tries to do the scissors technique... only... there's no rope holding it up. Eggman then shrieks and leaves, scared out of his mind. Into the next day, Eggman, still in his pajamas, went back to the Haunted Forest site and told Barker what had happened. Barker then tells him that he's heard of this before: Some good looking (oh, please...) entrepreneur type opens a humble haunted attraction on the smallest of Gogoba burial grounds ( :XD: ), only to anger the spirit world and send a cavalcade of ghouls. Eggman blames Barker for this infestation of ghosts in his lair. Barker claims to be a reasonable fellow and won't leave Eggman in his time of need (Uh, oh...) and offers to take his lair off of his hands. Eggman asks what guarantee does he get that the ghosts won't follow him. Barker then says that he'll add a stipulation to the contract that the sale includes any and all items inside the lair, claiming that ghosts are powerless against red tape. (Oh, brother...) Eggman, without hesitation, signs the contract and gives Barker the keys to his lair. (Yup, definitely putting that 300 IQ into question here...) Later, at Sonic's Shack, we see Sonic napping on his hammock until he was awakened, in a disturbed manner, by hammering noises. After proclaiming that it's 2:30 in the afternoon and people are trying to sleep, Sonic looks out his window and sees Eggman constructing some kind of house made from boards of wood. Eggman tells Sonic that since his lair is infested with ghosts, he had to sell it to Barker and it seems that they'll be neighbors. Judging by a "NO!" louder and with more echoes than Darth Vader, Sonic is not having that. (Especially after that "Can An Evil Genius Crash On Your Couch for a Few Days?" episode. :XD: ) He soon bring Eggman back to his lair, where they both find that Barker has made it into his new Haunted-themed tourist trap. As Eggman was concerned that he'll anger the spirit world again, Sonic tells him that Barker conned him, just so he could get a bigger and better venue for his attraction. He goes to show him... after paying $100 for entry for him and Eggman! Once inside, the dark and foggy lair, a ghost pops out of nowhere. As Eggman cowers behind Sonic, he goes and turns on the lights, saying it's just smoke and mirrors. When asked what makes him say that, Sonic points out the fog machine and the mirrors and the projector showing an image of said ghost. Eggman, frustrated by Barker's con, demands he gives him back his lair. Barker refused, saying that a deal is a deal. Eggman then tries to threaten him by siccing his robots on him, only for Barkerto say that his robots belong to him now, thanks to that attachment in the contract. He then summons Decimator Bot and Burnbot to haul Eggman away. As Eggman spouted that there weren't any real ghosts inside and that it's a sham, the robot threw him far, far, FAR away! (Damn! Good distance... :D ) When one of the people waiting on line asks if that hysterical lunatic ranting the truth, Barker tries to play it off, saying that it really is haunted and asks what he would get out of lying to them. That's when a bunch of coins fell out of his top hat. :XD: With that, the crowd began to leave as Barker begged for them to return, saying that his attraction isn't the most reprehensible, as he mentioned that he's not harming any whales. Later, back at the beach, Eggman was upset that everyone saw him get thrown out of his own lair, saying that people don't fear and respect him anymore. (Yeah, I'm pretty sure they haven't feared or respected him in a LONG time. :XD: ) He then says that it's time to call in the big guns. Turns out, his "big guns" were Orbot and Cubot as they take turns wearing an Eggman mask and smacking each other with a rolled up magazine. (Wow, he must be desperate if he's calling them the big guns. :XD: ) Eggman contacts them and tells them that he needs their help to retake the lair. Meanwhile, at the Village, Eggman's robots, now dictated by Barker, attack. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Sticks intervene. Barker proclaims that he blames Sonic for his recent setback and will take his vengeance out on him. Knuckles attacks several Motobugs with a ground pound punch only for the robots to scatter and surround Sonic, Tails, & Sticks. Several beetle bots fired electric blasts at the trio. After blocking Sonic's spin attack with their shields, they start taking to the air and dropping bombs at them. Sticks asks why they're having so much trouble, as they deal with these jobber bots all the time. Tails says that it's because Barker's instituting a different strategy from Eggman's usual rampaging. Sonic says he'll still smash these robots, but as soon as he starts dashing towards them, he gets smacked in the face by... one of those damn Slicers! (I've been watching a lot of SomeCallMeJohnny videos on YouTube. :XD: ) Meanwhile, back at Eggman's base, Orbot & Cubot make their way to the main control panel of the base, where Barker's 2 bears were sleeping. As the 2 bots sneak their way pass the bears, Orbot informs Eggman that they have to keep their volume at a low level, causing Eggman to yell out, asking him to speak up since he can't hear him. :XD: This cause the bear to toss and turn and trap Orbot in its paw! Cubot, meanwhile, makes it to the control panel. Eggman then tells him to first delete his internet history (Hey, Yo!), then install a virus. Back at the village, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Sticks find themselves surrounded by Motobugs, circling them on the ground, and the beetle bots flying around them. As Barker began to brag that victory was soon to be his, all of the robots' eyes turn white and started to attack Barker, causing him to be ejected out of the Egg Mobile! Barker landed near Eggman who told him he's seen this before, saying the robots have contracted the Anti-Allegiance Virus and won't stop until they've destroyed their master, which in this current case, is Barker! (Oh, Ho!!! :D ) As Barker begged Eggman to do something, Eggman said he's a reasonable guy and that he won't leave him in his time of need (OH!!!!) and suggests that he takes his lair back. Once that happens, the robots will no longer attack him. Barker, realizing that Eggman has pulled a fast one on him, is left with no choice as a Motobug laser blasts his tail. He immediately tears up the contract and throws the lair keys back to Eggman and runs off. Eggman soon regains control of the Egg Mobile and removes the virus from his robots with ease. (I will admit, that was freakin' clever of Eggman!) With his robots back under his control, he turns his attention towards Sonic as they were about to engage in an epic battle... And... the episode's over. I mean, it was funny and clever, but kind of a cop-out kind of thing. But I think we all know who won that one. I mean... Come On! :D

All in all, this episode was pretty funny. I honestly thought they would do more with the haunted lair, like Eggman would beg Sonic & friends to deal with the ghosts in his lair and Sonic & crew would be all Scooby-Doo-like. Maybe even have Amy be some kind of fortune telling exorcist or something. But the episode itself was pretty good, but probably could have been better. The lack of Amy in the second half in the episode had to be put into question, in my opinion. However, as I said before, the whole con job aspect was pretty good. Especially when Eggman turned the tables on Barker. I just wish they would have kept the Sonic/Eggman battle in the end, but I get where they were going with that one. If I were to grade this... Probably a B. Maybe a B+. Definitely better than the last episode.

Well, with that, we got a new episode coming up. Hope you like giant robot battles! :D
