Sorry for being late on this one. Sunday was my birthday and WrestleMania and Wednesday I saw that new Power Rangers movie. It was awesome.

Wow... This episode of Sonic Boom. You know, admittingly, I did not expect much from this episode. I actually thought it'd be one of those episodes I'd probably not like as much. I thought it would've been something along the lines of Eggman sending a motherly type robot to baby the heroes or something like that. But this episode was more humorous than I thought. The only complaint I have is that it seemed to have ended too abruptly, but that's the price you pay for trying to get an episode down to around 11 minutes. But again, this episode was pretty enjoyable. No fooling, especially since it was aired on April Fool's Day, where meanwhile on Cartoon Network, they had their programs aired with googly eyes on the characters. Just didn't work for me... except when they had them on Clarence. For some reason, it seemed to fit all right.

Okay, I'm starting to babble on again... So, here's my review on the Sonic Boom episode, which aired on April 1st, 2017.

"MomBot"

The episode starts at Eggman's base where Eggman has created a new device. The Eggs-Bosen Super Configuator. He proclaims that he's done what no other scientist has done. After Cubot wrongly guesses that proving climate change is real ( :D ), Eggman said building a machine that not only creates miniature black holes, but makes broccoli tastes like applesauce. :XD: When Orbot asks what Eggman plans to do with this device, he answered not only will he finally eat his broccoli, but he'll prove himself to be the greatest scientist of all time. Once he activates the machine, a ball sized black and purple sphere appears. Then, Orbot's eye gets sucked in the sphere, along with a plate full of broccoli! (Well, if nothing else, Eggman made a device that gets rid of broccoli, so... win-win? :D ) After Orbot sarcastically praises Eggman and crashes into a random object, Eggman proclaims that it's time to present his device to the scientific community and be honored by his peers. And... he does this by trying to enter his device in a kids science fair. (Oh, Eggman... :iconsonicfacepalmplz: ) The thing was covered by Soar and being judged by Comedy Chimp, Fastidious Beaver, and Tails. Meanwhile Sonic & the gang were looking at the other kids' projects. They meet Beth the Shrew (the one who looks like an Animal Crossing version of Amy at the end of "The Biggest Fan" episode) who made a diorama of the solar system. As Sonic commented about a dwarf planet being tossed out of there, and Sticks commented how the planets are just holograms made by aliens and Beth asked Sticks where'd the aliens came from, Eggman was trying to explain his invention to Soar. As Eggman was explaining the differences between particle theory and string theory, Soar quickly went over to someone with a potato clock. After Cubot made a funny joke describing the spud-powered clock, Eggman scoped the competition. Pretty standard, considering it's a children's science fair... Comedy Chimp, after making another failed attempt to make the crowd laugh, announces that the winner of the science fair was Beth! And everyone else got participation trophies... (Ugh... Otherwise known as the failure-but-not-really-so-you-still-get-a-shiny-prize award.) ...everyone, except Eggman. Turns out, he was disqualified for exceeding the height limit for a children's competition. :XD: Comedy Chimp also tells Beth that she won a week of observing Hedgehog Village's top scientist: Tails! :D Needless to say, Eggman was disappointed. Not even a toy from Meh Burger could cheer him up. As Eggman sees Lady Walrus praising her son for bringing a rock to the science fair, Eggman comes up with an idea. Back at his lair, Eggman builds a robot... one with a blonde wig, knowledge of happy-face pancake recipe, basic first aid instructions, and random lectures. One that he hopes will praise his lamest accomplishments. (Uh... Nah, too easy...) He soon activates what he dubs MomBot. Meanwhile, at Tails' Workshop, Beth, in an accent that somewhat resembles Bunnie Rabbot's speech, was impressed with Tails' science stuff, which included a hovercycle; an actual bicycle that hovers when pedaled, to which Tails demonstrated... before crashing to the floor. :D Back at Eggman's lair, we're witnessed to a... Momtage... where we see Eggman & Mombot do things such as build a Fuzzy Puppy Buddies puzzle, have a tea party, bandage up a scraped knee, use a bowl to cut Eggman's mustache, put up blueprints on a fridge door, perform a piano recital, and have her feed him pieces of steak. Huh... you know, if Eggman had gotten this kind of attention when he was younger, maybe he wouldn't be as rotten. :D Now wearing a scarf made by Mombot, Eggman sets off of another attempt to beat Sonic, this time, with the intent of making Mombot proud of him. Meanwhile, back at Tails' Workshop, Tails was showing Beth what certain objects looked like through a microscope when the alarm went off. Already knowing it was an Eggman attack, he was about to leave Beth in his workshop... except... Why Would That Be Up There?! by FallenAngelCam7 there was a chainsaw dangling above her. (Why Would That Even Be Up There?!) So, he decides to bring her along. At the Village Center, where the battle was taking place, Sonic, Amy, and Sticks were easily taking out Eggman's robots. When Tails joined them, he asked Lady Walrus to keep an eye on Beth, since she's good with kids. (Ha! :D ) Eggman sicced some flying beetle bots at them, but Knuckles was quickly able to ground them and pound them into the dirt. Eggman, knowing full well that Mombot was conditioned to love him unconditionally, retreats in partial defeat. As Knuckles smashed the last of Eggman's robot, Beth found herself now more interested with Knuckles' feats of strength. Back at Eggman's lair, Eggman explains to Mombot what happened and how he was defeated by Sonic once again to which Mombot said that maybe villainy isn't for him and suggests for him to go into air-conditioning repair. :XD: Eggman says that he's a supervillain, which is somewhat similar, and says that she should be proud of him. M.B. (I'm nicknaming her that) said she'd be prouder if he was a REAL doctor. (Ouch! :XD: ) Eggman started to go into a rant about defeating Sonic when M.B. interrupted, saying that Sonic seems like such a nice boy and asks why the can't be friends. Eggman answered that he's his archnemesis. M.B. then calls Sonic and asks, since Eggman doesn't have any friends, if he could take him to the movies, to which she'll gladly pay for. Later, at Meh Burger, Sonic tells Tails what just happened. Tails thinks it could be a trap and Sonic agrees, but he couldn't just say no after M.B. knitted him a navy blue scarf, to which Sonic hopes his fans like it better than his current one. :D (Personally, I dig the brown neckerchief look.) Tails then tells Sonic that Beth was supposed to meet with him, but she's more interested in watching Knuckles smash things than learning about science. Sonic then tells his buddy not to worry and that Beth is a smart girl and that she's not going to want watch Knux smash stuff forever. Outside, Meh Burger, Knuckles is seen crushing a boulder with his bare hands while Beth applauds. Tails approaches them with a metal pipe, in the hopes of showing Beth how metal conducts electricity, only to have Knuckles grab it and bend it over his head. Beth squealed with joy as Tails groans. Later, at the movies, Sonic sits in the front row while Eggman, with a bag of popcorn, reluctantly joins him while Amy & Sticks, sitting several seats behind them, giggles. Sonic mockingly asks if his mommy make any more play dates for him today. To which Eggman gives Sonic the popcorn and says that his saintly MomBot wants him to make peace with Sonic, but he'd rather make pieces of him and runs. The popcorn starts beeping as Sonic immediately spins out of the way before the popcorn bag explodes. Eggman tries to escape, but gets cut off by Amy & Sticks, holding their signature weapons. On a side note, throughout that scene, the Eggman theme from games such as Sonic '06, Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Colors, and Sonic Lost World (I believe) was heard. Pretty sweet of the Sonic Boom crew to add that audio Easter Egg in this episode. Why they never did that for the Sonic Boom games, I'll never know... In any case... Later, back at Eggman's lair, Eggman returns, showing off the battle wounds of his attempted trap. M.B., seeing this, decides to make peace between Sonic & Eggman herself. The next day, in Hedgehog Village Center, Tails plans on playing baseball with Knuckles through the use of a pitching machine and several coconuts while teaching Beth about science. This sounds reasonable: a good balance of learning and fun... that is, until Tails pitches the first coconut and Knuckles, with a metal bat, hits it clear out of the village! Tails, impressed with how hard Knux hit it, tells him to try and get it over the trees this time. So, while Tails & Knux were having fun, Beth just turns on a walkman, puts on headphones, and listens to some music. Later, at Eggman's base, we see M.B. cooking happy-face pancakes for Sonic, Amy, and Sticks while Eggman pouted across from them and Orbot & Cubot, sitting at a kids table, were wearing little sailor outfits and coloring. :XD: As Sonic complimented the food, M.B. said how polite he is, then asks Amy if she and Sonic are friends or... Sonic and Amy nervousness 1 by FallenAngelCam7 Sonic and Amy nervousness 2 by FallenAngelCam7 :XD: When Sticks agreed with M.B., saying Amy was no spring chicken, I swear I could almost see Amy blush! :D M.B. then asks Sticks about her attire, saying she must get chilly wearing that. She immediately knits a sweater in a fast motion and forces it on Sticks. Sticks... hates... sweaters... by FallenAngelCam7 (You can see the relief in Amy's eyes the focus isn't on her anymore... :D ) Eggman then whispers to his lackeys that he's going to defeat Sonic in front M.B., so she'll see what a great villain he is, and in desperation to avoid being an air-condition repair man. But as soon as his mantis robots appear, M.B., saying that Eggman installed eyes in the back of her head, said that she spent all day planning this special dinner and he's just ruining it. She says that he's her son and he shouldn't upset her like this. As his robots backed away from this awkwardness, Eggman said that he created her, so he's technically her father and her son. (Yeah, this is turning into an Alabamian family tree right now. Uh, no offense if you actually live in Alabama, of course. ^^; ) M.B. then smacks Eggman to stop him from getting hysterical... or because there was a mosquito. Either way it was hilarious. And it was just as hilarious for Sonic and the girls as M.B. sent him to his room. :XD: Later, back at the Village Center, Tails and Knuckles continued playing their baseball game while Beth listened to her music. As Knuckles knocked a coconut through a cloud, Sticks, ridding herself of that nasty sweater, takes Beth's headphones off, saying that headphones pump in subliminal messages from the government. Sticks then explains how the government has lots of ways of controlling you. Beth listened on with great interest. As Tails and Knux laughs after Knux gets another home run in, they look to see Sticks and Beth walking off together. Sticks has corrupted a youthful mind. :XD: Later, back at Eggman's lair, Eggman was contemplating deactivating M.B. with a giant magnet, but before he could go through with it, he had a change of heart and decided just to send her away on a cruise around the world. M.B. was so proud of him for this kind gesture and hugs him. It seems that Eggman can accept this, because all he ever wanted was for someone to be proud of him.

Wow... that got a little deeper than I thought. Like I said, I thought this was going to be ridiculous in the painful kind of way. It was for a bit, but then it got ridiculous in the hilarious kind of way. The B story with Tails & Knuckles was pretty good, but I wish they could have done more, like find out what happens afterwards when Beth follows Sticks around because she's so interesting. But, again, so much can be done in 11 minutes. All in all, this was a good, funny episode. I liked this more than I originally thought I would going into it.

Well, I'll try to get the next review up for Sonic Boom sooner, but unfortunately, due to my work schedule, I won't be able to Live Tweet the show tomorrow night, and, thanks to my Dad being dumb with how Cable TV works, I won't be able to watch it at my father's house, so I'm just going to have to wait until Sunday night when I can see the episode recorded on my VHS tape... Damn It... I hate having to wait longer than usual... Oh, well.
