Maybe I should explain why it has gotten me upset. Now, it wasn't the end result itself that's got me a bit upset. When it comes to these things, no matter what the result is, I usually respect it because the research would back up the reasons. The problem with this particular one... Well... It just seems that, as far as Knuckles went, they didn't do that good a job analyzing him. Now don't get me wrong, they did a good job with their current analysis, especially when it came to measuring the power of Knux's punch igniting a volcano, but it seemed like they missed a few things in their research.
First, the Boom series. Yes, I know he's dumb here, but I think they focused more on his stupidity and less on his durability. In Boom, Knux has been hit by bees, bombs, boulders, missiles, meteors, and a falling fridge... and he was, more or less, okay. He's even been squished by Eggman's giant robot... twice! I'm just saying if Knux can survive a meteor crushing him, it might be possible for him to survive DK's attacks.
Second, they've never mentioned any feats or abilities Knux has in the comics series. Now, this I could somewhat understand, thanks to the BS antics of one Ken Penders, but if they talked about Boba Fett's adventures after the Star Wars movies, even though Disney said they were no longer canon, I think they probably should have covered the Echidna focused stuff in the comics. I'm sure we would have seen feats that would have probably put things in Knuckles' favor.
Third, the whole Knuckles being stupid thing before the Sonic Boom series. That can be misconstrued. See, Knuckles has spent most of his life alone so he's not familiar with how things are outside of his island. So, it's understandable as to why he was tricked by Eggman in the first place. As for the other times, it's got nothing to do with stupidity or gullibility. Knux is just... way too trusting. Knuckles believes there is good in everyone, even Eggman, which is why whenever Eggman lies through his teeth, Knux believes him, thinking he's actually changed his ways. Besides, Knux is knowledgeable when it comes to ancient legend stuff, like reading ancient text and discovering old treasures. I'd probably consider him the Nathan Drake of the Sonic series... Okay, that might be a bit of a stretch... Another example of Knuckles' intelligence is shown in Sonic Adventure 2. Seeing that Eggman was about to steal the Master Emerald again, Knux punched and shattered the giant gem, preventing Eggman (and Rouge, for that matter) from stealing it and knowing full well that he'd be able to put it back together, since he's able to detect the pieces.
And finally, the shovel claw. It was mentioned in the analysis, but it is possible for Knux to use those as weapons. He has used them to fight the Chaos Monster in the Sonic X series. So I was a bit surprised to see they didn't use them in the DEATH BATTLE! when DK used his Coconut gun. Plus, those hammer fist gloves from Sonic Adventure which increase his punching strength could have come into play, too. On the flip side, I would have like to see DK bust out those bongos via Super Smash Bros. You know, when they compared DK to Samson with whole strength lies within his hair (or fur), I would have thought Knux would have used his shovel claw to shave Donkey Kong completely and then sliced him up like a banana. What?
Bottom line, I think DEATH BATTLE! kind of screwed up in this one particular battle when it came to the analysis. And if you still don't agree, think about this: If Knux used his shovel claw just as DK was about to squash him with his hands, and the claws pierced through his hands, would he have enough strength to fight through the pain or would he have stopped and howl in pain? I don't care how strong you are, I think it's impossible to crush sharp metal spikes with just the palms of your hands.
Now, I don't usually complain about how DEATH BATTLE! does things. I usually agree with whatever happens, even when Vegeta beat Shadow. I mean, yeah, back then I made a dumb comment on the O.P. Shadow gun from the Shadow the Hedgehog game would have taken care of him, but I'm over it. But, this one... I tried to get over it, but the lack of analysis for Knuckles has really got me buggin'. I'm not trying to be whining and complaining like other fans, but if they added that info I mentioned for Knux an DK still won, then I wouldn't have a problem.
But hey, that's just my opinion. And if fans of Goku can complain so much that they get a rematch with Superman with the same results, then this legitimate gripe should constitute a redo of the DEATH BATTLE! between Knux & DK. I know it might not happen, but I just had to share my thoughts on this.
UPDATE: Apparently, I'm not the only fan who has noticed the lack of research in this DEATH BATTLE!
